The-Dream has been quiet as of late, but today he took to Twitter to announce the official release date for his anticipated fourth album, the latest installment in his ‘Love’ series.


Love IV MMXII will arrive on August 14, he announced. The follow-up to 2010’s Love King features the single “ROC” as well as collaborations with Mary J. Blige (“Divine”) and Gucci Mane (“Paid”).

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter channels R. Kelly on “Foreplay,” takes thinly-veiled shots at his R&B counterparts on “Talk That Shit,” and owns up to his flaws on “Ya’ll.”

“LOVE IV is the BEST Album I’ve made,” he tweeted. “I don’t care what the sales will be. I will do my best to Challenge your Taste And Knowledge. I will Leave no Holes in this Album Period, no room to be Hated only Adored or simply just say ‘you don’t fuck with me’ but what U won’t say is Dream Album is Mediocre or Sucks.”

Sehr dope.

Beat ist zwar ziemlich einfach gehalten, reicht aber völlig aus, bei den Melodien, die Dream darüber singt. Pusha auch wieder stark, wie erwartet. Mächtiger Grower! Wird mit jedem Hören besser!

Dream hat nur das Pech, dass in der "R'n'B-Konkurrenz" Frank Ocean fast zeitgleich leider die Überbombe schlechthin als Single gedroppt hat.
Ich glaube bei allem Können nicht, dass er gegen "channel ORANGE" ankommen wird.
Freu mich trotzdem auf sein Album.

Ich glaube bei allem Können nicht, dass er gegen "channel ORANGE" ankommen wird.
Freu mich trotzdem auf sein Album.

Ich würd's einfach beides nicht vergleichen und unabhängig rangehen! Klar, "Channel Orange" ist quasi DAS R&B-Projekt schlechthin zurzeit, da kommt nichts ran. Erst Recht nach dieser bombastischen ersten Single. Dennoch wird auch Dream ein sehr gutes Teil droppen.
Trotzdem rotiert gerade "Pyramide" noch um einiges mehr, muss man schon sagen...

2 völlig unterschiedliche Künstler in meinen Augen. Während Dream oftmals gerade vom Songwriting eher in die Prince Richtung geht und vom Sound her an die goldene 90er Ära, ist Frank Ocean auch viel von Rock/Pop/Alternative Musik beeinflusst worden. Hört man auch ganz klar in seiner Musik. Auch ohne die ganzen Verweise die er schon auf nostalgia, Ultra gebracht hat wie z.b. "all what bitches want is Jodeci" während im Hintergrund Radiohead läuft.

Beides aber wirklich sehr gute Künstler. Freu mich genauso aufs Dream Album.

Album wird wohl erst mal nicht kommen.

Radio Killa & Def Jam will release a commercial version of The-Dream’s 2011 mixtape 1977, a collection that will feature two new songs. One of those surfaced today — it’s called “AK-47″ — and it’s a pretty hard-hitting, catchy track where The-Dream compares his girl to an assault weapon (as you could imagine). I’m guessing the conception of 1977 as a commercial disc might have something to do with the fact that The-Dream’s newest release has been repeatedly delayed.
