Bekannter rechtspopulistischer politischer Brandstifter und Culture Warrior. War integraler Bestandteil in den rechtspopulistischen Attacken gegen critical Race theory und kämpft nun für De Santis als dessen Vorhut gegen alles was dieser als Woke bezeichnet. Nach crt ist das LGBTQ-Thema der nächste gut laufende Schlachtplatz. Wird auch von moderaten Republikanern kritisch gesehen, obgleich sie sein Talent zur Aufwiegelung fast auch ein wenig bewundern.

Habe kein großes Interesse das jetzt auszudiskutieren, der Punkt ist aber dass man Sachen aus seinem Mund mit der entsprechenden Skepsis sehen sollte, wenn man nicht gerade De Santis Fan ist. Anders gesagt ist der Typ die Definition von Rage Bait und macht nicht mal einen großen Hehl daraus.

Mr. Rufo is convinced that a fight over L.G.B.T.Q. curriculums — which he calls “gender ideology” — has even more potential to spur a political backlash than the debate over how race and American history are taught.

“The reservoir of sentiment on the sexuality issue is deeper and more explosive than the sentiment on the race issues,” he said in an interview.

In another article for City Journal, Mr. Rufo claimed that American schools were “hunting grounds” for teachers, and that “parents have good reason” to worry about “‘grooming’ in public schools.”

He cited data from a decades-old survey, in a study for the Education Department, but he omitted the study’s declaration that “the vast majority of schools in America are safe places.”

Charlie Sykes, a founder of The Bulwark, a political site for anti-Trump conservatives, said Mr. Rufo’s association with the Manhattan Institute provided “intellectual cover” for flawed and inflammatory work.

“It gives him this veneer of being a conservative scholar,” Mr. Sykes said. “He basically says, ‘Anything you don’t like about race becomes C.R.T.’ Now, all of your anxieties about sexuality or gender become grooming.”

Rufo of late has been “the bellwether for DeSantis,” said Nicole Hemmer, a historian of conservative media and the author of Messengers of the Right. “The decision to use Rufo’s activism as a kind of scaffolding for passing pieces of legislation that draw a lot of media attention and frame DeSantis as a culture warrior shows a kind of political intelligence,” she told me. “Rufo has figured out which buttons to press,” Hemmer said, “so by tapping into Rufo, DeSantis has a shortcut to tapping into that base.”

“It’s sort of like using a person,” said a person who has worked with both Rufo and DeSantis who was granted anonymity to speak freely, “as a dog whistle.”

“It’s a very well-thought-out and purposeful strategy,” GOP strategist Slater Bayliss told me. “From my perspective, I think the governor and his team deserve credit for putting all this together,” Bayliss added. “If you’re a moderate and don’t particularly care for Governor DeSantis, it’s still a super interesting story to understand the way that he’s running this.”

Leute die Kapitole, Parlamente oder den Reichstag stürmen, sehen irgendwie auch immer aus wie Leute, mit denen man keine Sekunde in einem Raum sein möchte.
 
Ne demo is halt was anderes als mit kabelbindern in tactical vest gekleidet nach abgeordneten zu suchen und dabei deren büos zu durchsuchen.

In unserem rathaus fanden in der vergangenheit schon häufiger demos statt bzw endeten dort nach dem demozug

Die Anklage alleine ist eher Pipifax, es bleibt abzuwarten was da noch kommt aus den anderen Ermittlungen. Wären das die Republikaner würde ich ihnen eine Strategie unterstellen mit der sie mit der schwächsten Anklage voraus gehen um dann mit den stärkeren nachzufeuern und Trump aus dem Gleichgewicht zu bringen, aber wir reden ja von den Demokraten lach

Und das hältst du irgendwie für klug? Hat schon so Erdogan Vibes. Aber nicht, dass Republikaner so etwas nicht auch schon abgezogen hätten.
