Lieder und Rhythmen afrikanischen Ursprungs haben großen Einfluss auf die brasilianische Popmusik. „Orin“ ist der Yoruba-Name für Candomblé-Lieder, die eine Kommunikation zwischen der materiellen und der spirituellen Welt herstellen. Der abendfüllende Dokumentarfilm zeigt den Werdegang von Iuri Passos, Atabaque-Lehrer am Gantois Terreiro und erster Alabê, der einen Master-Abschluss in Ethnomusikologie an der UFBA erwarb. Mit den Terreiros verbundene Menschen, Forscher und Künstler wie Mateus Aleleuia, Letireres Leite, Gerônimo Santana und Gabi Guedes sprechen über den Widerstand dieser Musiktradition und ihre Beziehung zum Tanz und zur Mythologie der Orixás.
