The Beckham Catch
Sports, second prize singles

November 23, 2014

Odell Beckham of the New York Giants makes a one-handed touchdown catch, in the second quarter against the Dallas Cowboys at the MetLife Stadium, on 23 November. He made the catch, despite pass interference, while diving backwards with full extension of his right hand using only three fingers. Leading footballers dubbed it the ‘catch of the year’, and Beckham’s jersey from the match was later put on display in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Von dieser Woche an wird Amazon seinen Prime-Kunden insgesamt elf Donnerstags-Spiele der NFL anbieten. Zum Auftakt zeigt der Streamingdienst das Spiel zwischen den Chicaco Bears und den Green Bay Packers. Amazon setzt dabei auf vier verschiedene Streams: Zusätzlich zum von CBS übernommenen Standard-Feed sind weitere Feeds in Spanisch und Portugiesisch geplant, zudem will man eine zweite englische Übertragung anbieten, der sich an weniger fachkundige Zuschauer richtet. Grund dafür sei, dass sich Amazon als "globaler Service" verstehe, erklärte Jim DeLorenzo, Head of Sports bei Amazon Video Channels. Amazon hatte sich die Übertragungen rund 50 Millionen US-Dollar kosten lassen. Deutsche Kommentatoren wird es zum Start in der Nacht von Donnerstag auf Freitag offenbar nicht geben.
