Wow, 2011! How quick 2010 went but they do say time flies when you're having fun! We've released Alan Wake and two expansion packs, The Signal and The Writer, and made a whole bunch of new friends on our community sites. It was truly an honour sharing all these moments with you all in 2010!
Also what a great way to end the year by receiving some fantastic awards for Alan Wake! We've covered most of them already on here but I think it's a good idea to put them all in a roundup post, similar to how we did with reviews for the game and our DLCs.
Thank you so much for these fantastic awards and to all you fans out there for supporting us along the way!
Alan Wake was voted Game of the Year by Time Magazine!!
Lots of video-game covers have a bold M on their lower left corner, but none have felt as mature as Alan Wake does. Its unsettled titular character carries adult concerns — a stalled career, a troubled marriage — into a psychological thriller set in a town taken over by a shadowy occult force. Alan Wake's biggest triumph lies in turning metaphor into game play. Yes, you fight the possessed townspeople of Bright Falls with the typical pistols and shotguns, but only after shining light on them to burn the darkness off. Its mix of meta-awareness and Hitchcockian suspense make Alan Wake a unique and fun experiment and one of the best games of the year.
Alan Wake took the #3 spot in Joystiq's Best of 2010 feature!
"[...] one of the most cinematic, novelistic, and episodic games ever made and, I think I speak for that group when I say, we're all hoping it gets picked up for a second season."
Alan Wake was Stuff.co.nz's top Xbox game of the year!
"Alan Wake (Remedy) (R16)While there were other contenders (Halo: Reach, Fable III, Forza Motorsport 3, Battlefield Bad Company), Alan Wake was the winner for being different. It follows the usual adventure game formula, but is also a homage to television mystery adventure series, including Lost and Twin Peaks. It was also scary as hell."
