Mixtape Vic Mensa - There's a Lot going on (03.06.)

Vic Mensa is getting ready to take the summer by storm. Today, the Chicago rapper has revealed what appears to be a new project, titled, There's Alot Going On. He has given us nothing but the artwork and title, but a few clues point out that it is likely the mixtape that will precede his impending debut album.

A post last week showed Vic seemingly writing out tracklists under two categories -- "ALBUM" and "TAPE". The post was captioned, "Mark Your Calendar," and hashtagged #savemoneysummer. XXL also points out that a post on the Playstation blog lists the project as arriving this Friday, June 3rd.

"dynasty", "16 shots", "shades of blue", titeltrack es fehlt allerdings ein hit à la "orange soda" oder "lovely day" wie beim innanetape, wobei das wohl auch so beabsichtigt sein könnte.

Ist ein solides Mixtape/Ep geworden, aber nichts was ich mir öfters anhören werde.

Finde, 'New Bae' ist der Hit. Mega, steh drauf. Coole EP, seine Stimme nervt halt ab und an.

den track find ich etwas lästig, den mit ty$ hingegen relativ langweilig. ich find, man hört bei den beiden tracks, dass er vllt. zu rastlos versucht hat, wieder was zu machen, was catchy is. ergebnis is bei den beiden tracks aber nich so begeisternd für mich. wie gesagt, ein neues "orange soda" oder "lovely day" is ihm hier nich gelungen. ihm ging es ja seit seinem ersten hype nich so gut, wie er aufm letzten track erzählt, und diese künstlerische blockade zeigt sich in der hinsicht für mich noch ein wenig.
sein erstes tape is schon besser und runder als diese ep, aber bin trotzdem aufs album gespannt. hab das gefühl, dass er die ganzen anderen bekannten songs seit "innanetape" da nich draufpacken wird.

die ep kann schon was - das soundbild hat schon was, auch wenn er wieder in einige richtungen schielt. manchmal sind die songs dehalb etwas wirr aufgebaut , aber für mich hat das auch einen gewissen reiz (die verzerrten stimmen in der "danger"-hook). hab auch den eindruck, er hat hier öfters reine rapparts eingebaut; "dynasty" ist schon ne ansage. "shades of blue", "16 shots" und "there's a lot going an" find ich bis jetzt am besten.

der einstieg bei "danger", haha: "we don't need no cops round here, i got my dick in hand cause i know a lot of yall niggas running scared" und dazu diese betonung
