Ich dachte mir mal, dass wir einen Thread brauchen wo man Alben vorstellt die sowas wie Klassiker-Status haben.
Manch einer wird wohl das eine oder andere Juwel noch nicht kennen. Ich mach mal den Anfang...

Das Album ist eigentlich ein gutes Beispiel.

Tha Grimm Teachaz sind eine Crew bestehend aus PMDF, KDz sowie DJ Koufie.
Das Album wurde zwar 2011 released, ist aber eigentlich von 1993 und galt vor 2011 als verschollen.
Guter alter 90er Sound, die meisten Beats sind dreckig und oldschool und die Texte passend dazu.
Ganz klar 9/10, klare Empfehlung meinerseits.

absolut deiner meinung ... leider wurde auf vinyl nur eine ep davon gepresst, die natuerlich wieder zu den ueblichen preisen fuehrt, da sehr limitiert.

btw: nette idee für einen thread, aber ich sehe jetzt schon wieder einige, die hier komische alben posten werden ;)
 
Z-Ro - Look What You Did To Me

Ist hier sicherlich auch den wenigsten ein Begriff. Z-Ro steht schon seit Jahren für großartige Qualität und sein Debütalbum ist für mich auch ein unbestreitbarer Classic. Der Mix aus absolut perfektem Gesang und sowohl schnelleren als auch langsameren Rap-Passagen ist einfach unglaublich. Der Rerelease ist auch relativ billig zu bekommen, also Sorgen wegen zu turen Preisen braucht sich auch keiner machen.

Bin durch ein Nate57-Interview, in dem Nate das Album als Geheimtipp hervorgehoben hat, auf das Album gekommen und nachdem ich mir einige Tracks auf Youtube angehört habe, war ich direkt begeistert und habe das Album für knapp 23€ erstanden. Die Rapper (3-2, D.A., AWOL) kommen aus Houston und das Album ist bei Rap-A-Lot 1994 erschienen. Mir gefallen besonders die sehr lockeren Flows, unterhaltsamen Texte und der facettenreiche Sound, welcher neben dem damaligen Down South-Klängen (nicht mit dem heutigen gleichzusetzen) u.a. auch Westcoast-Einflüsse offenbart. Dürfte denke ich kaum jemand kennen.

Das album muss überall Promo kriegen :p Ne, denk aber auch nicht, dass das hier allzu bekannt ist, in den Z-Ro Threads geht ja auch nicht gerade die Post ab. Gerade unter Dirty South Heads ist es aber sicherlich sehr bekannt, keine Frage.

Menace Clan - Da Hood (1995)

Bin ich durch Zufall mal drauf gestoßen, als ich auf Ebay rumgestöbert habe. Der Menace Clan besteht aus dem Duo Dante "Dee" Miller & Walter "Assassin" Adams. Nachdem sie bei Rap-A-Lot gesigned wurden und unter anderem als feature auf Bushwick Bill's "Phantom Of The Rapra" vertreten waren kam ihr Debütalbum "Da Hood", was wirklich starker Tobak ist. Die Beats sind durchgehend relativ "einfach" gehalten, laute Beats, melodische Elemente, ab und an Pianoklänge oder Bass-Gitarren. Einfaches, aber wirkungsvolles Rezept. Die Lyrics dagegen sind der eigentliche Streitpunkt des Albums. Wird schon im Intenret oftmals als das rassistischste Album aller Zeiten angeprangert, durchgehend werden anti-weiße Hassbotschaften gedropped ("I'm the white people killa, CIA killa, KKK killa"). Ohne das auch nur im Ansatz zu unterstützen find ich das Album in seinem ganzen Gesamtpaket einfach großartig, die Storys werden extrem authentisch rübergebracht, auf "Runaway Slave" versetzt man sich beispielsweise perfekt in die Lage eines Sklaven, der den Entschluss fasst von einer Plantage in den Südstaaten zu fliehen. Und gerade weil man sich nur durchs Zuhören in solche Rollen einwandfrei reinversetzen kann ist das Album große Klasse.

Ist dem einen oder anderen Eastcoast-Fan mit Sicherheit ein Begriff.
Ill Al Skratch sind ein (oft unterschätztes) Duo aus New York, bestehend aus Big Ill und Al Skratch. Sie haben in den 90ern zwei sehr gute Alben rausgehauen und sind dann leider in der Versenkung verschwunden wie viele MCs in den goldenen 90ern. Bei "Creep Wit' Me" handelt es sich um das Debutalbum und ist 12 Tracks stark. Die Beats und Texte sind einfach nur mörder. Mehr als nur ein Geheimtipp. Richtiger Eastcoast shit!

Ich würde mal behaupten das Album ist hierzulande ziemlich unbekannt und gehört auch eher zu den "hidden gems".
Das interessante ist, dass diese Gruppe zum Teil aus den heutigen Black Eyed Peas bestand. Mitglieder waren
z.B. will.i.am und apl.de.ap, welche bei genauerer Betrachtung des Covers zu erkennen sind.
Musikalisch ist die Platte ein wahres Meisterwerk.
