Illmatic nicht nur in den Top 3 der besten Rap-Alben, sondern für mich auch in den Top 10 der besten Alben überhaupt. Alles objektiv natürlich.

Also objektiv gesehen ist "Illmatic" ganz klar das beste Album von Nas. Bei mir haben aber auch oft Alben, die ich direkt bei der Veröffentlichung gehört habe und live miterlebt habe persönlich einen höheren Stellenwert als die eigentlichen Klassiker. "Stillmatic" und "God's Son" habe ich sicher bei weitem öfter gehört als "Illmatic". 1994 war ich halt 7 und hatte noch herzlich wenig mit Rap am Hut. Würde aber mittlerweile halt trotzdem sagen, dass "Illmatic" sein bestes Album ist.

Objektiv- anhand welcher Kriterien machst du das fest? Ich benutze vermutlich ein anderes Objektiv als du.

Jetzt leg das Wort objektiv doch nicht so auf die Goldwaage.
Wollte halt nur verdeutlichen das "Illmatic" für die meisten und auch mich und wahrscheinlich auch was seine Lyrics, die Produktionen und das Gesamtpaket angeht sein bestes Album ist, viele aber persönlich andere Alben von ihm öfter gehört bzw. länger und anders gefeiert haben, weil sie "Illmatic" aufgrund des Alters nicht live miterlebt haben.

Beattechnisch definitiv insgesamt Nas bestes Album. Ist aber auch nicht schwer

Was das Orchester da rauskitzelt ist echt sehr geil, "Memory Lane" habe ich falls nie geskipped aber in der Version hat das Hollywood Qualitäten. Wenn die Bläser im Intro reinkommen - Kopfkino

das wahrscheinlich beste Hip Hop Album denke ich. Zumindest Top 3

Nebenbei bemerkt finde ich es gut, dass der Trend wieder in Richtung 10 Track-Alben geht. Illmatic ist aufgrund seiner Qualität sicher eine Ausnahme gegen sonstige Releases,aber diese 20 Track Dinger oder 2x CDs (Culture2) kann ich mir kaum noch geben.
Die 40 Minuten hier kommen einem wie 10 vor.

Hip Hop can never shake the ongoing trend of unpaid royalties, and it looks like Nas is about to be in the middle of a battle with a legendary producer. According to a report from Page Six, Pete Rock is planning on suing Nas, who allegedly hasn’t paid him a dime for his contributions to the Queensbridge rap legend’s debut album Illmatic.

Pete Rock and his attorneys claim Nas signed a contract stating the producer would get a cut of the money made off the classic track “The World Is Yours.” The money owed is apparently in the millions, and although the attorneys reached out to Nas and his team, there was no response.

“Nas and his people have stonewalled me since 1994; My New Year’s resolution is to be compensated for my hard work on Illmatic,” Pete Rock told Page Six.
