Relativ neuer Rapper aus Detroit, hat heute sein 2tes Mixtapes gedroppt. Er ist 29 Jahre alt, seine Einflüße sind Nas, Jay-Z und Tupac; Chuk Inglish (Cool Kids) ist sein jüngerer Cousin. Inhaltlich ist er um echten Straßenrap bemüht ("With his music, Detroit native Boldy James wants to take hip-hop back to the streets, while carrying on the lyrically-driven tradition of other Motor City MCs…") - gefällt mir sehr gut was er macht und ich kann euch seine Sachen nur ans Herz legen!

Last year, Boldy James released a 28-track opus entitled Trappers Alley: Pro’s and Cons, The Quik-crete Mixtape. It’s a dark record, but Boldy, who was 28 at the time of its release, has a writer’s sense for subtlety and managed to locate the humanity in work ethic required for the illegal drug industry. I was able to sit in the studio yesterday while he and producer/engineer Brains were finishing up the mixing on some final tracks on his new Consignment: Favor for a Favor tape. James was hands-on until the end, making decisions through the entire process. “I’m a real intricate type of guy, I’m real detail-[oriented],” he has said. James’ raps have a therapeutic quality, and give the impression that he releases music as much for himself as for any audience. Download the tape and check out the tracklist below.

For those who don't know about the Detroit spitter Boldy James, let this be your introduction. Boldy James is probably the dopest rapper you don't know about. He has rhymes schemes and flows that are almost like poetry, and he seamlessly puts words together. His low voice and mumble-like-rap create a unique listening experience. Plus, he spits real shit, like, actually, real. You all know rappers who claim to be “real” but don't even have a slight grasp on reality, but King James is not one of them. Boldy actually lived the drug-dealing-all-consuming life, and kinda still is, just to make ends meat. While his dreams of being a rapper are slowly coming to the forefront, we get to hear him expand on his style and diversify his lyrics. Although Boldy may be considered an old-school gangster in the content he spits, this is in contrast to his modern beats (“Jimbo,” “For The Birds” ), thus blending two different worlds in a way you've never really heard before (although Freddie Gibbs' recent Baby Face Killa takes a stab at this, somewhat). Boldy's creativity in his approach to the rap game is what makes him a must-listen. He actually has intricate lyrics and he even throws in some math (drug dealers gotta know their numbers) when he raps, which keeps things interesting.
