50 Cent bei Spritztour festgenommen


Rapper 50 Cent ist in einem silbernen Lamborghini von der Polizei gestoppt worden. Er hatte keine Papiere dabei - und wurde deshalb in Handschellen abgeführt

Eine Spritztour durch Manhattan hat für den Rapper 50 Cent ein unangenehmes Ende gehabt. Eine Zivilstreife der Polizei stoppte den silbernen Lamborghini des Musikers am Freitag nach einem gefährlichen Spurwechsel. Dabei fiel auf, dass sein Führerschein abgelaufen ist. Außerdem habe das Auto keine gültige Zulassung gehabt, sagte ein Polizeisprecher.

Weil sich sofort eine Menschenmenge versammelte und Fans versuchten, mit ihren Handys Fotos zu schießen, nahmen die Polizisten Curtis Jackson - so sein bürgerlicher Name - mit auf die Wache.

Wie das Magazin «People» berichtete, wurde der 31-Jährige in Handschellen abgeführt. Er durfte wieder gehen, nachdem ein Freund den Beweis dafür erbracht hatte, dass der Lamborghini wirklich dem Rapper gehört. Er erhielt aber gleich vier Strafmandate, die ihn noch teuer zu stehen kommen könnten. (nz)

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Krayzie's group since the early '90s, have two new albums on the horizon, beginning with September 19's Thug Stories.

"We got Dr. Dre, we got Three 6 Mafia, we got Kanye West, we got a lot of people on the album," Krayzie said. "We got Mariah Carey. She promised that she was gonna do a song with us once, and she kept her promise."

Akon and Ice Cube also show up on the album, which has yet to be titled, and verses Flesh-N-Bone recorded behind bars may also appear.

jo das stimmt wohl. hab in letzter zeit echt schwierigkeiten zu erkennen ob das dre oder storch ist. entweder ist storch ein richtiger biter oder viele sachen die laut booklets eigentlich von dre sein sollten waren in wahrheit von storch. naja wer weiss... :D

mir gefällt der track aufjedenfall richtig gut. beim ersten hören fand ich den etwas unspektakulär aber mit jedem mal wurde er besser.

die features sind aber eastcoast das stimmt.

das hi-tek album hat aber richtig krasse features für ein independent ding. snoop, nas, dogg pound, raekwon, busta, the game usw. sollen dabei sein.

wird bestimmt ein geiles ding werden, nur verkaufszahlenmässig wird es wahrscheinlich ziemlich untergehen, denn babygrande hat nicht die möglichkeiten es zu pushen wie sie aftermath hat.

dafür wirds aber nicht über 3 jahre 10 mal verschoben.

Wie Wu-Tang Corp berichtet, hat Raekwon seine Aufnahmen zu "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II" beendet, das heiss erwartete Album stehe kurz vor der Fertigstellung, so das Management des Rappers. Ein Tracklist der von Dr.Dre und RZA produzierten Tracks wird gerade erstellt.

Auf dem zweiten Teil seines Klassikers "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx" wird Raekwon den kompletten Wu-tang Clan featuren, weitere Gäste werden noch bekanntgegeben. Erscheinen wird der Longplayer gegen Ende des Jahres über Aftermath Entertainment / Wu-Tang, ein genaues Release-Datum steht noch nicht fest.

Young Buck will eigenes Label

NEW YORK - Martha Stewart wants Eminem to appear on her "Martha" TV show. Not because he can knit or bake brownies but because audience members love his music.

"We play his music during breaks to keep people very lively and they love him," Stewart told AP Radio in a recent interview.

"I would really love to have Eminem on the show," the 65-year-old lifestyle guru said. "I don't think he knows that my demographic audience is so involved in Eminem music."

Stewart said she's not good at everything.

"I can't pick up a guitar and play a fantastic song. ... I cannot sit down at a piano and do that," she said. "I'm happy about my knowledge in so many different subjects relating to living, but in terms of specifics, I don't know if I'd be really very good on `The Young and the Restless.'"

However, Stewart does have a wild side.

She licked David Letterman's jelly covered finger when he pretended to cut himself during a cooking segment with her on CBS's "Late Show With David Letterman."

"I knew it was jelly because I looked really carefully before I licked his finger. And I think he was looking for a reaction and didn't know what I would do," Stewart said.

"I'm sure he was totally shocked that I would lick his finger, as were many, many, many other people," she said with a laugh.

Eve Drafts Top Producers For 'Here I Am'

Eve is sifting through tracks for her upcoming fourth album, "Here I Am," a joint effort between Dr. Dre's Aftermath/Interscope imprint and Swizz Beatz' Full Surface. Eve will put the final touches on the disc by heading to the studio with Dr. Dre. Though no release date has been set, a single and music video are expected before the year is up.

Eve refers to the album's production lineup as "the hip-hop all-star team"; the list includes Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Cool & Dre and up-and-coming producer Neo -- not to be confused with Def Jam singer/songwriter Ne-Yo. The Swizz Beatz-produced track "Tambourine" is being weighed as the potential lead single, which will follow the unofficial summer release "Cashflow" featuring T.I.

"It feels like a first album," Eve tells Billboard.com of her new offering. "I haven't been out in four years and I felt like I had to roll the dice. Why put out an album that sounds like [all the others]? I had to get out of the box -- for myself."

"Here I Am" will be Eve's first solo effort since 2002's "Eve-olution" (Ruff Ryders/Def Jam), which bowed at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 630,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Eve describes the sound of the album as more experimental and instrument-driven. "I didn't want it to be too serious," she says. "When I get up -- no matter what time -- if I turn on music I move a little faster. If I'm driving it clears my head, so I just wanted to make a feel-good album that people can listen to and rock out to."

Eve describes the Timbaland tracks as "really out there" and along the lines of the producer's recent Hot 100 No. 1 hits, Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous" and Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack." "All Night Long" was produced by Pharrell and finds Eve singing, something the rapper had previously been reluctant to undertake despite persuasion from her label.

"[Pharrell] made me sing a whole song. I finally got up the nerve [but] I feel like I was bullied into it," she jokes. "But it's one of my favorite songs on the album. I was really stressed about it but it was fun to do. I consider myself somebody who can maybe hold a note on a good day. I sang hooks before, which is super easy, but I had to get out of my comfort zones."

Reggae artist Sizzla is also featured on a song and Eve is currently lining up another reggae cameo. "I listen to reggae all the time. It's always been my favorite music because of the melodies," she says. "I also listen to a lot of Brazilian music [and] a little bit of rock, so I wanted to bring all those elements, along with hip-hop."

Not making a comeback this year is Eve's titular sitcom, which ran on UPN for three seasons. The rapper says she found it difficult trying to juggle both music and TV acting. "I was really excited about it but I needed to get away from it to do music 'cause there's no way you can do both," says Eve. "I'm sad on one hand 'cause I really fell in love with the cast but this is something that I really want to do. I missed music."

In addition to perusing movie scripts in search of the perfect role, Eve is also revamping her fashion line Fetish to better reflect her style, and she recently partnered with a friend to form the film production company Shape Shifters.

Sixty-four pairs of shoes will be produced before being numbered and autographed by the rapper and auctioned off over a four-week period at Nike stores worldwide and on eBay, beginning Aug. 31. "We're always looking for new ways to try to raise money and awareness for the foundation, so when Nike approached us we jumped at the chance," Eminem said. "Who wouldn't want to design their own line of Nikes? And to do it for charity makes it that much better.

What really happened with D12’s Proof that tragic night in Detroit’s CCC Club? Fresh off the witness stand, Mudd, an old friend of Proof’s spoke with XXLMAG.COM, and told it as he saw it with his own eyes.


Mudd, whose government name is Reginald Moorer, was one of three people that accompanied Deshaun “Proof” Holton to the CCC the night of his death. On the condition of anonymity, Mudd spoke to XXL in the July 2006 issue about what happened that tragic night at the CCC club. The investigation is still ongoing. After several months, Mudd has decided to come forward to tell the entire story about the night that went horribly wrong, resulting in the death of two men, his gun, and the testimony he gave in court this week.

Mudd’s friendship with Proof dates back 15 years to an Osborn High School lunch table. He was a freshman at Osborn when he met Proof, who was a senior at the time. A few years later, Mudd joined a group with Proof and another rapper, Thyme, called 5-Elementz (5ElA). The group gained notoriety around Detroit in the mid ’90s. They all worked at Maurice Malone’s Hip Hop Shop and— with the support of Malone—moved to New York in search of a record deal. Proof ultimately left the group to join Eminem on the road. After a falling out, Proof and Mudd smoothed out their differences in 2004, and the two frequently hung out when Proof was in Detroit. Mudd raps on Proof’s Searching for Jerry Garcia. Here is his story.

What was your relationship with Proof like most recently?
It was like five years of catching up on all the experiences he had been through. It was still the big brother/little brother type relationship. We had a routine: Wild Woody’s on Wednesday, Tuesday was Northern Lites, Mondays we would hang at a titty bar call John Johns, Saturday was the State Theater. If I wanted to see him or find him, I knew where to go. We would play pool at Bookies.

In the last few months before his death, was there anything different about Proof?
It was different. He was starting to get more focused. He had stopped all the pills and weed smoking. Before, we were deep into metaphysics. Anything that he was doing, he was fully aware of the concepts. Proof [was] not only a very intelligent person, he was very spiritual as well.

Tell us about that night. How did it start off?
Once we started hanging, we started hanging until the sun came up. After hours was nothing out of the norm for us, we had been doing that since ’95. It was a Monday night. I text him. He says, “I’m at the Coliseum. Me, Horny Mack and Chop.” The Coliseum is a strip tease establishment. We at the titty bar chillin’. Got the booth, drank a little, hollered at the DJ. Then we go to the Rolex, another strip tease establishment, and then we go to the CCC. I had been there numerous times before that. It was kind of a shady spot. Cats always had they pistols. We hip-hop and from Detroit, but you still got to keep strapped, because Detroit is a gangsta-ass city, and there’s a lot of cats that want to play gangsta here. Certain cats get down and the East Side has the reputation for being the grimier side of town.

What happened when you went inside Triple C?
For some reason they searched everybody, but they didn’t search me. I had my pistol on me, of course. We had some drinks, everybody buzzed up. It was a private establishment and it wasn’t really that crowded that night. The guy that I [now] know as Keith Bender was playing pool with Proof. Horny Mack [another person in Proof’s entourage] was watching the game. I was kinda pissed there wasn’t no ladies in the house. I just chilled, watched the game for a minute and went to the other side of the bar. We were getting ready to leave. We walked out the door. We saw two girls from the Rolex, one I was hollering at previously.

I go back in and I didn’t get searched again. Proof started hollering at one of the girls. I started hollering at the other girl. We kickin’ it. I’m macking, I’m doing the Mudd thing. Meanwhile, to my left I see Bender and Proof having some words. They started to get a little loud. I told old girl, “Hold on for a second. Let’s try to calm shit down.” It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for Proof to get drunk and fight. [He had] that personality, the Derrty Harry, the scrap-happy type of individual.

How was Keith Bender acting at this point?
“I don’t care who the **** you are,” that’s what Bender was saying to Proof. Even with [Proof] being on the cover of Rolling Stone, he still would go around to different spots and show love in the city. Of course Bender knows who he is. He went to Osborn with him—on that side of town, that’s the main high school. They know each other and I’m sure they’ve had dialogue before this. Everybody knows somebody from somebody. At the time, I didn’t notice, [but] this was pretty much the Osborn crowd, just grown.

They in the argument, so we separate them. I remember my last words to Bender were “Calm down, it ain’t that serious.” He had his arms folded, leaning up against the back of the bar. Proof was talking to L.A., the owner of the club, trying to smooth the shit out. That’s when Keith Bender walked around me. Nobody’s really watching him because we thinking the shit is cool.

Bender walks around me, and walks up behind Proof and punches him in the face with his right hand. Everybody starts backing up like, “Get out the way, let them fight.” There were people up there with Bender. We were all going to fight, but this discrepancy was between these two gentlemen. All of a sudden I hear some shots coming from my right side, behind me. I look up and see it’s Mario Etheridge shooting in the air, I guess to break up the fight.

How did you react when you heard the first shots?
Reflex-wise, I put my hand on my gun. It’s already escalating and now mutha****as shooting. I’m going for my pistol. Proof knew I had my pistol. Proof tackles me across the room onto the pool table. As he’s pushing me back. I’m looking at Etheridge. He’s shooting in the air. At the same time Proof’s pushing me. I’m telling him, “He’s shooting in the air, don’t sweat it.” He’s like, “Mudd, give me the gun.” I tell him, “He ain’t trying to kill us.” Proof slams me into the back of the pool table. I fall back, he pulls my pistol from my waistband. He walks across to where he was fighting with Bender and he shoots in the air, I guess answering the shots that Mario put in the air. And so with that, Bender attacks him. They’re struggling. I’m getting off the pool table because my back is ****ing killing me, so I’m kind of slow reacting, getting over to the side of the room. Before I could get over there, Mario had came through and started shooting in the direction of Proof and his cousin, Keith Bender. I see them both drop. There’s smoke everywhere. Mario Etheridge leaves. I’m moving people out of the way. I see Proof lying there hit, blood everywhere. Keith Bender is lying there bleeding, blood slowly running out of his head.

What happened next?
I’m reaching for my phone. It’s in the car. Horny Mack has the keys. I’m like, “Unlock the door, let me get my phone so I can call 911.” I go get my phone, I come back in. I look and Bender’s body is gone. I’m looking around and the back door is open. I see Proof, I’m checking for the vitals. Ain’t none. There was this look in his eye, he wasn’t there anymore. I still couldn’t call 911. It was more so shock than anything. I’m normally cool under pressure-type situations, but it was one of those things. We couldn’t do nothing, say anything. Chop [the third man in Proof’s entourage] was there. He was crying. Chop’s looking at me like, Where are those keys? I’m still looking at Proof. Chop’s screaming. I’m like, “Who got the keys? Horny Mack?” And he’s like, “I don’t got the keys.” We were going to get his body out and get him to the hospital.

How were the other people in the club acting at this point?
We heard doors lock and I heard a girl’s voice say, “This what we gonna say y’all. We gonna say Proof got shot at Coney Island [an all-night diner].” Me hearing that, I’m looking at my pistol on the ground next to Proof’s left hand. I grabbed my pistol. I’m thinking, Y’all can say what you want to say. You already killed the man. But y’all gonna leave this ***** and dump him somewhere? I’m not going to live with that. I know I’m gonna live and tell the story the correct way. I leave [and] take my gun with me out the back door. I’m watching to see if anybody [is] trying to stop me. As I head up the street, Horny Mack comes walking between the side of these two houses. I’m hurt and I’m not walking too fast. I see Horny holding his hand. He said he was hit, he got shot in the hand. I’m like, “Damn, Horny, what we gonna do?” Horny bent the corner and went back around toward the club. I went straight. I knew I wasn’t going to cooperate with the story. I ain’t never been that cat. They want me to cooperate so ain’t nobody going to jail. I was like, **** that.

I’ve never been shocked before or terrified beyond the capacity of rational thought. I couldn’t remember where the **** I had parked my car. I’m in a state of shock. I called my cousin who is a lawyer, told her, “This is what happened. It was my gun. Am I in any kind of trouble?” I ain’t trying to go jail. I don’t want nobody to come looking for me in retaliation. I know they trying to corroborate a story. I don’t know what to do.

Part 2:

How did you carry on after that?
The next day I didn’t go to work. My cousin called in. She basically gave me the best legal advice: “There’s two things you do. You can either go in and tell a story, or you can say nothing at all. Homicide detectives are going to come looking for you.” I waited it out for a day. My phone is blowing up. 6 o’clock in the morning. It’s the first thing on the news, “Rapper Proof was killed along with another man and police are looking for Bizarre.” I don’t know how they got Bizarre’s name. Maybe the name Mudd sounded bizarre. Bizarre was in Atlanta. [He] ain’t even hangin’ in spots like that. That was kind of a signal, somebody’s talking to police and to media. I’m like, Damn, it’s [only] a matter of time.

I just chilled out with my cousin for a minute and I didn’t go home the first night. The second night I did come home, but I didn’t know if anybody was looking for me, so I parked around the corner and walked to my place and went in through the back door. I went to work the next day. I was just kind of waiting to see what’s going to happen.

I got a phone call from Salaam Wreck. I met Salaam through Proof, but I don’t know him like that. I know he’s the DJ for D12. He’s like, “I heard you was there.” I kind of blew him off. Then Swift calls me like, “Mudd, what happened? We talked to Horny Mack and we heard you was there. Come talk to us. We all at the studio. Em’s here and we want to talk.” After 11, I called back to the studio. I think Swift was there and Salaam Wreck. Swift’s been my man since back in the day and he’s always been a standup guy. I end up telling the story all over again.

So how did the detectives actually get in touch with you?
That next morning Proof’s cousin, Dwayne, called me and he told me about this lawyer, David Gorash, and [said] if I’m in any kind of trouble, they had my back. All of a sudden [there’s] a wrongful death suit, and mutha****as talking about suing. I went down to the studio to talk to some of the artists from D12 and David Gorash. The rumor was Proof shot Bender in the face and Mario came over and shot and killed Proof. That ain’t the **** what happened, but that’s what everybody’s saying. I even heard Horny Mack tell that story, from another party. And I’m like, “He was standing right there. He saw what I saw.” Everyone was asking me, “What happened to Proof’s jewelry?” He always had his jewelry when we were hanging out. His Rolex, P-chain and pinky ring. We talking a lot of jewelry that’s worth a lot of money. I was like, “I don’t know. Whoever stayed, you might want to ask them.”

Word is out, Mudd was there. People would see us together like all the time. It’s out in the street now. It wasn’t out in the news or papers yet. David Gorash asked me to talk to someone in homicide. At the time, we didn’t know ballistic-wise who shot who. We still don’t know to this day.

I went down to 1300 Beaubien [Detroit Police headquarters]. I made a statement. The detectives said they would keep it under wraps and I didn’t have to worry about my statement getting involved in the media. At the same time, they’re cops. I don’t trust them. I feel ****ed up for going to cops in the first place. But here it is, I’m in a catch-22 situation. I’m worrying about people seeing me and knowing me from that spot, because the East Side of Detroit is a very small place. I am already thinking of what the consequences may be, because I’m the only one telling my story. Later, I heard there’s another person telling the story exactly how I did. They still didn’t tell me who it was. I don’t even think I met this person. I’m feeling out here by myself. I know Chop knows them and Chop ain’t going to say nothing. I heard at the time Horny Mack’s story changed so many different times so he wasn’t credible. Regardless, I was going to tell the truth. I go down there to talk to homicide and they said they wasn’t going to say shit. I go to work and people [are] still calling me. I’m blowing off cats left and right. I asked the guys from D12 and the lawyer had suggested that none of them repeat what I told them.

Tell me about the funeral.
Time goes by, the wake comes up, funeral comes up. Thyme and I spoke at the funeral. Even in the obituary it mentions us. Mama, Proof’s mother, included us in there. You don’t think about that type of shit everyday—it was an honor. The funeral was touching. I hadn’t cried like that since I was a kid. It was more so mental with me, because I was there. Horny Mack was at the funeral and we were the only people who witnessed it. It was one of those things that was just tragic and ****ed up all because of nothing.

Backing up for a minute, you said you recognized Mario Etheridge from high school?
I didn’t know that I knew Mario. You know, you see people later in life and they’re grown up and they gain weight? I remember him young. I look different from high school too. I had a nose ring, dreadlocks, big hoop earrings, baggy pants. I looked in the yearbook, and low and behold, there he was. I remember him from high school. He was chubby then.

Then I found out that Proof and Keith Bender were at Osborn together. Everybody in the place knows each other from somewhere or are familiar with each other. It almost seemed like this was some high school grudge shit, as petty as it is. You start investigating more and it’s like, Damn, this shit should have never happened. Detroit’s [the] hater capitol of the world and mutha****as wanna take shit to the next level. It escalated for nothing.

Why did you decide to tell part of the story anonymously to XXL several months ago?
I decided to do it once everything started going wrong. There’s two men tragically lost, and Bender’s family is thinking about how much money he’s going to get. Bender started the whole thing. And then Bender’s cousin started shooting. And here it is, we outnumbered. I know these mutha****as are going to say whatever they can to keep Mario from going to jail.

Sooner or later, it was going to come out that I was there, so I might as well for Proof’s sake, for his family’s sake and for his kids’ sake. He’s got five kids. You want to take money from his children? You want to take money from his loved ones, from his mother? That’s ****ed up. I felt obligated, morally. [For] someone I’ve known that long and saw him killed, I got to say something.

As far as testifying, when did they contact you?
I didn’t hear about the case until the day they subpoenaed me. Three homicide detectives came up to my job on Monday (September 18). One detective, Charles Zwicker, I recognized from the first time. He wrote the statement down. I’m calm now that I see a familiar face. He’s like, “You’re being subpoenaed. You got to appear in court tomorrow morning at 8:45.” They’re like, “You’re the last witness.”

I really couldn’t sleep that night. I got down there and walked in and the detective who subpoenaed me told me to step outside. “Look over your statement, and make sure you don’t talk to nobody.”

I step up to the stand. The prosecutor examined me and his defense cross-examined me. After I gave the testimony, Proof’s mother came in on the second half. They brought the gun out and asked me if I recognized the pistol. I knew everything about my gun, even my serial number. I told them, “Glock 32, semi-automatic, mid-size .357 caliber.”

A guy came up to me who was on the stand when I first walked in. I knew he looked familiar. He introduced himself as L.A. “I’m the club owner,” he [said]. “Ain’t no love lost, you did the right thing.” The defense had asked me, Did I know how Proof had got to the hospital? Turns out L.A. took him to the hospital, at least that’s what he told me. He told me ain’t no love lost. He loved Proof, that was his boy and he still has the chess set Proof gave him. Proof lost a game of chess, and he had to buy him a crystal chess set. He’s like, I still got the blood-stained shirt with his blood all over it. That was my man, I loved him. You ain’t got to worry.

Wu-Tang Clan rapper Raekwon the Chef has officially signed with Aftermath Entertainment and will serve up his highly anticipated album Only Built for Cuban Linx II under the label founded by West Coast rapper/producer Dr. Dre.

The announcement ends months of speculation as to whether or not the album would be released on the powerhouse label, which is also home to Eminem, Eve, Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent, and G-Unit (http://allhiphop.com/hiphopnews/?ID=6209#).

According to a statement on Wu-Tang Clan's official site Wu-Tang Corp (http://www.wutangcorp.com/)., Raekwon is currently in the studio recording new material for the new disc, which is rumored to feature production by Dr. Dre and the RZA and appearances from the Wu-Tang Clan.

"Rae isn't taking this album lightly and it will be released on Aftermath Records, not on the Wu Music (http://allhiphop.com/hiphopnews/?ID=6209#) Group as originally scheduled," said a statement on the site. "It will be an instant classic!"

Raekwon's solo debut Only Built For Cuban Linx was released in 1995 on Loud Records and set the Hip-Hop world a buzz with songs like "Ice Cream," "Criminology," "Incarcerated Scarfaces," and "Can It Be All So Simple."

His next efforts, however, failed to match the commercial success as its predecessor--the gold-selling Immobilarity was released in 1999 via Epic while 2003's The Lex Diamonds Story was issued by Motown/Universal.

In a recent interview with AllHipHop.com, Raekwon talked about the pressure associated with recording the follow-up to Only Built for Cuban Linx.

"It feels good to know that I achieved a mark that I always felt I could," Raekwon told AllHipHop.com. "For the most part, I tend to stay humble and respect that and not be overwhelmed with the love. It just makes me stronger as an artist because I know that people watch what I put out. So it's kind of a double-edged sword where it's a good thing and a bad thing only because--the bad thing about it is that you have to stay on that level as being one of the best, because if you don't, then why'd you make that? It keeps me on my toes."

No release date has been set yet for Only Built for Cuban Linx II.

bei aftermath sind derzeit einfach zu viele leute gesignt um die er sich kümmern muss, für jigga, nas und solche leute macht er auch noch beats. raekwon ist jetzt auch noch bei aftermath gesignt.

ausserdem sagt dre ständig, dass detox sein letztes richtiges album werden soll, da kann ich schon verstehen das er nich son 0815 teil raushaut sondern was bringt mit dem er zu 100 oder wenigstens 95% zufrieden sein kann.

nein tag und nacht wird er ganz sicher nicht daran arbeiten da er ja einen haufen anderer projekte nebenher laufen hat (the documentary von game, big bang von busta, jetzt das neue raekwon ding usw.)

das hält natürlich auf, besonders wenn man so einen perfektionisten film wie dre fährt wo jede einzelne hi-hat stimmen muss.

Ich finde vor allem Eminem geil weil ich durch seine mukke zum hiphop gekommen bin. Seine Tracks ham mich schon geflashed da war ich erst 10 oder so und zu der Zeit hab ich mich auch noch mit Pop identifiziern könn :)

Bin ich deiner Meinung, wobei ich dennoch finde dass 50 Cent einige ganz gute Tracks bzw. Features in letzter Zeit gemacht hat. Ich finde die Features auf Obie Trice' "Every Where I Go (feat. 50 Cent)" und das auf Lloyd Banks' "Rotten Apple (feat. 50 Cent & Prodigy)" sehr gut. Und die Tracks "Hip-Hop", "Don't Front" und "Serial Killer (feat. Prodigy & 40 Glocc) ganz gut. Ich hoffe mal dass das Album besser wird als "The Massacre", sonst werde ich nie wieder 50 Cent hören. :)

Young Buck - Buck The World

Within the confines of Hip-Hop there are innumerable factions, all who think they are better than the rest. Egos are a dime a dozen and braggadocios personalities populate. After all Hip-Hop is the most narcissistic genre of music.

Young Buck and his band of brothers require no introduction. They have been loved, detested, adored and loathed during their reign. But regardless of public opinions and media speculation, the G-Unit army isn’t breaking down, Young Buck isn’t looking to jump ship and they are still as close as ever in all their endeavors.

With sophomore project 'Buck the World' slated for a late Novemeber release date, one thing he and co-hort Lloyd Banks had on their sides while working on their these albums was time. Plus home recording studios certainly helped the G-Uniteers in crafting and concocting this go around.

Here Buck talks about Africa, the real ghetto, the interest in Soundscan and just what lessons he has learned from watching some of Hip-Hops major players at work.

Young Buck : November 28th, it is everything you have been waiting for and it’s worth the wait and worth your money.

Nobodysmiling.com : Did you enjoy making this album?

Young Buck : Yeah I had a lot of fun as I had more time with this album as my first album I recorded when I was on tour with Roc da Mic, so this one here; it’s been pretty much on me. I had my own studio built and I write the best in my own settings and most of it is recorded in my studio, so I really enjoyed it. I smoked a lot of weed while making it.

Nobodysmiling.com : After going two times platinum on your first album, are you conscious of sales on this project?

Young Buck : I just try to keep that out of my mind. I make music based on reality and what I have gone through in my life. To me that’s the way people get to understand my music. You know if someone can pull something out of one of those verses that I write and say ‘Damn I am going through that too’ that’s good, its life. You know if you concentrate on selling records and making an album and making music based off trying to see a record it becomes limited. You know you limit yourself instead of going in there and doing it for the love of the music.

Nobodysmiling.com : Do you find Soundscan has become an obsession?

Young Buck : Yeah, for a long time and even now I don’t pay Soundscan too much attention. I see Soundscan when I am at the G Unit office; you know I don’t really focus on it. I think a lot of artists, at the end of the day are in it to see music and be able to become financially safe. I think the only way of making good music is to be focused on the project itself. You have to love the music, before you can make a dollar from it. Even trying to come up in the game and making the music happen for you and being an indie artist or something, you have to grow to love your stuff before you can get anyone else to love your stuff.

Nobodysmiling.com : Are there any differences with this album compared to the first?

Young Buck : I had a little more time to work on it and I worked with a lot of different producers on this album than I did with my first. My first album I didn’t have no big name producers, as I wanted to keep the budget down so I could make some money. But on this one I got Dr. Dre who produces three of them, Eminem, Lil Jon, Akon, Jazze Pha, he produced a couple of them, Just Blaze, Hi-Tek. So there is a variety of production on there. Then feature wise I have more features on this than you will find on any other G-Unit album.

Nobodysmiling.com : Is there any particular reason as to why you went with so many features?

Young Buck : At the end of the day, I got a lot of friends and all the features are from people I am associated with outside of just being involved in this music. You know I got a record with T.I, Young Jeezy, myself and Pimp C. You know they are my homeboys so we would be hanging out one day and that’s how that came about. I got a record with Trick Daddy, one with MJG, 8Ball and Bun B. But what did was put all my features on one records, you know you may get me with two or three other major artists, so then I could make enough room for my own solo records. Whatever standard you expect to get, there is a lot of different people on this album so it is guaranteed to be a classic album, I can promise you that.

Nobodysmiling.com : Weren’t you supposed to go on tour to Africa with Missy and 50, some sort of Violator Tour, what happened with that?

Young Buck : I think there was some problem with the plane; something happened but I know they are supposed to be re-scheduling the show. I have been to Africa before.

Nobodysmiling.com : Yeah I was just about to ask if that would have been your first time to visit Africa.

Young Buck : No, my first time was one of the best experiences I have ever had in my life despite the little problem we had which caused us to come back a little quicker than we scheduled. We love Africa and I cant wait to go again.

Nobodysmiling.com : Where were you?

Young Buck : Johannesburg and Nigeria. It was nice over there. There is a lot of real poverty over there. You know what we call the ghetto is not the ghetto; we got it good. I don’t care how hard your projects is, you still got running water and things of that nature because there were people over there that I actually spoke to that really, really, really don’t have nothing and seeing that many black people without nothing is kind of crazy. You know you go so far and you see the blacks just a little worse than the people in the ghetto but for the most part there is a lot of poverty. For me it was like a way of coming home and being thankful for what I got now.

Nobodysmiling.com : But you put a lot of money back into Tennessee and Nashville with the G-Unity Foundation. The organizations that you opted to go with, why do you choose those ones exactly?

Young Buck : Well we like giving back as much as we do receiving; the way to receive is to give back. It was a situation where from the beginning we decided to orchestrate something to be able to support events that have happened through our lives such as tragedy, for us such as the hurricane in New Orleans. Any types of major things, even the flood overseas we sent something over there so we could be pretty much involved, but not looking for the recognition. Everybody got a good home; you know we are like gangsters with good hearts you know what I am saying? So in the beginning it was decided that we would establish something to show our support, show our people and our neighborhoods where we come from as well as the people we don’t know out here that we are able to show love. So it was pretty much started by 50, it was his idea and it was acknowledged and we all developed our own individual foundations outside of just that, you know we are all a part of the G-Unity Foundation but we all have our individual foundations also. So it’s a good look to be able to give back and see the smiles on some of the faces we have helped for real.

Nobodysmiling.com : People don’t look for recognition when giving but doesn’t it bother you when you as a movement receive so much negativity?

Young Buck : Yeah it does as you do a lot of different things from the heart and people get it twisted and it becomes really confusing. But at the end of the day, we practice four letters Ma and I am going to give them to you and you can practice them. P.U.S.H, Pray until something happens and its like at the end of the day that’s how we get down and how we make it through all this, the so-called ‘beef’ situations. I feel like a lot of who are in a position of being so-called Hip-Hop stars, people that kids and the young folks look up to haven’t got their shit right with the man upstairs so they don’t even know who they are themselves. That’s why you see a lot of different images from one person. Most Hip-Hop artists refuse to find themselves and the different thing about me is that I know where I come from and I know where I have been and what you get is what you gonna keep getting in this life. All I pretty much do is work on delivering the message that I already put out there because the message ain’t going to change as far as the struggle and all I can do is push the youth on the good end. But then I can’t give you all the happy stuff of Buck, because 90% of this shit is bad and I can give it to you that way too. No-one has seen things delivered in this way since Tupac Shakur.

Nobodysmiling.com : You are only 25; do you feel you have achieved so much in just that time frame?

Young Buck : Nah, nah, I feel like I have just taken one giant step, being able to have one foot out of the ghetto. Because you have to understand that where I am from, you can’t take just one giant step and take both feet out, you gotta keep one foot in, because if you take one giant step out with both feet your people turn their back in a fashion. I made one step, but as far as Hollywood and making my statement I don’t think I have come close. I am only on my sophomore album, I mean I have had success through the material on the projects I have worked on but at the end of the day there is a lot more to come with Young Buck that I want to being to the game as far as G –Unit South and my own rap label Cashville Records.

Nobodysmiling.com : There has been a lot of speculation in regards to you moving away from 50 and the rest of G Unit, is there anything you want to say in response to that or is there any truth in it?

Young Buck : Hell nah. The day you see me stop being affiliated with 50 Cent will be the day that I stop music. With me I had a lot of situations who I could have done my music with but I was burned by so many individuals as I jump started my career that once I came around 50 and actually seeing eye to eye and feeling the movement, I just cant see myself anywhere else, even if I have my own thing, it will still be G-Unit affiliated. I am a believer that if it ain’t broke, don’t ****ing fix it, straight up. Everything is perfect, I’m paid before I started rapping, I’m good, me and 50 are good; he understands me as an individual. I am a man, I won’t run home to Daddy like the whole Baby and Lil Wayne situation

Nobodysmiling.com : Yeah I was going to say being around G-Unit and also being around Cash Money during two stages of their tenure in music; what lessons have you learned?

Young Buck : I learned how to pay people. You know I watched a lot of people do a lot of work around them and they left without anything, no opportunity. I pick up the bad before I pick up on the good and I will look at it like ‘What can I do to avoid the bad happening to me?’ The good will always come naturally; you know it will always come if you can eliminate the bad. I learned to take care of my people from them and always say what you mean as far as anything you are gonna do, mean what you say. You know I was young when I was around them [Cash Money] and they were the first people I knew who had leverage in the game, the first people who were actually moving. They were real hot in the independent world. I was like 14 or 15 and I was out in these streets heavy but trying to do my thing and do the rap thing. I was never given that opportunity to show my talent. Even though I was right there when Juvenile wrote 'Back that Ass up', it felt like I was almost used for my surroundings, the cars, the money and things of that nature. You got to see me, but you never got to hear me and that was really what I was about for, to get that opportunity and he never gave me any anyway. I was going on 19-20 years old. You know I dropped out of Junior High to go and live with them in New Orleans.

Nobodysmiling.com : Do you ever regret dropping out of school?

Young Buck : No I don’t, as I am a true example of not having to go through school to be successful. I don’t have no regrets because I am successful. I have sold multi-million records; I don’t have a college education or a High School diploma which doesn’t mean I’m not going to get it. At the end of the day it is about your relationship with the man upstairs and it comes from there and then it is on the person himself. You know if you got the know how and really want something to happen for you as much as I did, then you gonna get out of here by any means necessary and that is where I stand. The streets will pay out, but it may not be the legal route. So whatever works for you, do it to the best of your ability. I’m a hustler MC, I am about getting money on the real.


Nobodysmiling.com : Your album is a play on words, 'Buck the World' and then you have Lloyd Banks dropping with The 'Rotten Apple', what’s going on with these titles over there at G Unit?

Young Buck : (laughs) 'Buck the world' is pretty much how you feel in a sense, you know its an underdog statement. Everything revolves around the world and here I’m not giving you all of what I’ve got but I am going to give you most. I am going to save something for the rest of the albums I am going to put out. There ain’t no limits, you know I didn’t hold nothing back, so it’s like ‘Buck the World.’

Young Buck : Tennessee, as much time as I get away from working and that’s by being out on the road or in New York. I try to spend as much time at home as possible. I have a little girl and she requires a lot of Daddy’s time and she’s dead serious about that. It’s her birthday coming up soon so I am running around passing out invitations for her little birthday party.

Raptism.Com: Being somewhat 'behind the scenes' its hard to follow what you have been doing, can you give us a brief rundown of what you have been doing the past year or two?

Well for the past year and a half I've been working with an artist who goes by the name of Dion, he just got a deal with Aftermath, and I've been grooming him for the past year. I've also been working on various tracks and you know, just working on a new album.

Raptism.Com: How did you get into DJ-ing?

Well a couple of friends of mine were already DJing and mixing it up, I always liked Jam Master Jay and those type of people. I have been into DJing since I was like, 8 years old. I used to do parties and little clubs mainly, and also for myself, you know, I used to DJ for myself and put it onto a mixtape to sell the mixtapes.

Raptism.Com: Was it hard to switch from DJing for the groups to actually making the beats?

Nah Nah that was the easy part! I mean with DJing it is easier to have a broader ear. In Cincinatti I would be in the studio with different groups, like as an engineer, and just learning about the types of music that also gave me a broader ear. I mean, I think the best producers would have started off DJing.

Raptism.Com: Young DJs and producers must be a dime a dozen over there, what do you think distinguishes a good DJ or producer?

Hmm, I think, like I was saying, when you start off as a DJ, you can understand records and you understand what came before you, so if you then get into production you know the music exactly as far as, you know, what people have done before you, keeps you from being a biter and keeps your sound original. It helps you do something a little bit different.

Raptism.Com: You pretty much united two factions of the hip hop community, underground and mainstream fans when you dropped the reflection eternal album. When you put that out did you think it would receive the hype that it did?

Yea, I mean, I did, but maybe I didn't expect it as much, I was just so hungry at the time that I just wanted the music to get heard. It was crazy, I mean it was how I wanted it to come out, I wanted it to impact the world and it was like a dream come true. It was a very good feeling to have, and I guess it was kind of unexpected for it to come out that way.

Raptism.Com: What happened with yourself, Rawkus and also Talib?

It was pure business, I mean I loved the creativity over there, I loved Rawkus for that, I mean they basically let us do what we wanted to do. I think they changed their attitude and their formula, I mean the whole label changed and they started to be more involved with the artists you know, they got too involved with the artists and started trying to change the music a little bit. They tried to be like the majors, like the really big majors and it just didn't work. That wasn't their original formula and that when it came tumbling down. I love Rawkus and what they did for me, but once they started changing ... it all came tumbling down.

Raptism.Com: How do you feel about the information technology age of music? In particular filesharing or promotional sites such as myspace?

I like the myspace, I mean I'm on that almost everyday. I think that it is good and bad. The good part it you can get things done faster... the bad part it that there isn't much time and effort put into the music thing, as much as it used to be. When you have the capability of doing stuff fast you don't really take the time ... You know the whole technology thing, I mean I like that you can get things done with the touch of a buttom rather than having to wait for the tape to rewind you know what I mean, which might take away some of that feel of the music.

Raptism.Com: Creativly, how hard is it for you to switch between the grimy gangster rap artists you work with, and the enlightening, conscious artists you work with?

I mean it's not hard for me, I'm not from NY, or from California, I'm like in the middle of both of those. Growing up in Cincinatti we adapted to all kinds and styles, from South, East, West, so I don't even feel like I have to switch when I'm rapping with different artists. Thats just my fam.

Raptism.Com: You have a deal with Aftermath to do some production work with them, how did that come about?

I think that after the Reflection Enternal album people were wondering what I was gonna come with next, and I hooked up with Snoop through that project, I mean he really loved on of the songs and wanted to work with me, and then I started working with Snoop and shopped my beat tapes to other West Coast artists and from there Dre got ahold of one of my beat tapes. I did a couple of tracks for one of Dre's artists on the Truth Hurts album, and from there it was basically just working up gradually to the point I'm at now.

Raptism.Com: Dre has a reputation for taking alot of so called unknown producers under his wing, do you have simular situations with artists who want to master the boards or industry?

I've been trying to build my production camp, I've got a couple of guys that I've been working with, you know, young cats.

Raptism.Com: When you are doing a track for someone who has commissioned you to lay it down for them, what is your stance on creative control? Are you contracted to do what they want? Do you do what you want?

It depends on what the project is. I guess we listen to second opinions but mostly, you know they write the track and I make the beat, they might bring something to my attention and I'll be like "oh ok yea" lets switch it up. Other than that, I mean I really try leave no room for opinion in my music.

Raptism.Com: Can it be hard to fulfil your creative desire when you are behind the boards as opposed to if you were in front of a mic?

Nah not really, I mean I've never really been in a situation where like oh that was wack, maybe more like that might not work, I just try to fit the project, you know, depending on what the project is.

Raptism.Com: I read in an article, where you were talking about your friend Dave Chappelle's breakdown, where you said, sometimes you like to get back home where people call you Tone, rather than Hi Tek. Does that keep you grounded? What other things keeps you grounded?

I pray alot. Being in this industry it is so cut throat you have to have certain people around you that are down to earth. I got my whole family and my kid, certain people that I grew up with being around me keeps me grounded.

Raptism.Com: Being shot to fame, along with the stage persona can often be a downward spiral for new to the game hip hop stars, do you think alot get caught up in the stage persona? How do you keep your artists like Dion grounded?

I mean I just let em know what I went through. I try to lead by example basically and hope that it rubs off on them. Some people just don't get it and some people do.

Raptism.Com: You have been down with Dave for a long time, its not really a common mix, a DJ and a comedian collaborating, how did you meet up and how did you get to mix it up in the studio the way you do?

Well basically when we were recording the Reflection Eternal project, we kinda knew him, but we invited him to the studio one time, he would come through in the process of recording it and comedians and muscians ... I think in a way we just liked his creativity. I mean with comedians it is about timing and the same with muscians, so we kinda mashed it. So yea, Dave would come to the studio and bring a good vibe, just get on the mic and start cracking jokes!

Raptism.Com: What are some of the things you will be working on in the future?

I'm planning on taking more of a, not a back seat, kinda more like a driver seat, more like an executive producer. I want to give my knowledge of the game to people who are really trying to do it. I want to be the executive producer and run my record label without having to touch the drum machine.

Raptism.Com: What can you tell us about Dion?

I met Dion through a talent search, you know, he entered the contest and he won. Ever since then I been working with him. Basically he is an R&B artist and what I like about him is that he is soulful. He really has a nice tone to his voice, and we just started creating and creating and I groomed him up to the point where I started involving him in records I was doing like with Snoop and Game. Then took him to get the deal with Dre because Dre with him ... Dre started involving him in stuff that he was doing.

Raptism.Com: Do you ever wonder what you would be doing if you werent a success in the music industry?

I really don't think about that too much.
